Transition Project
Today, I was asked to take different shots and combine them using transitions. For me, this was a bit challenging due to the editing portion of this assignment. I chose to use the program Capcut in order to edit my videos, however, I had to learn how to use the program and the tools within the software. Although it took a while, I enjoyed the learning process. I made three videos that demonstrate the use of transition and how they are able to capture different emotions within a scene.
Cut Shot:
Although this is a simple and easy transition, it helps to establish the setting. I took videos of different parts of my school and used no effect to go between the shots. I wanted to act as if the video was going through different scenes to learn more about the school setting, and with the cut shots, I was able to capture this. There is no real emotion coming out of the video, as intended, as I only wanted to capture the setting.
Object Transition:
With the object transition, I asked my friend to take two separate shots. At the end of the first clip, I asked her to put the camera near the screen, while in the second I asked her to do this at the beginning. While editing, I used the object's position to make a transition that changed scenes. It was hard as there were many takes to get the camera's position in the correct spot, but that's the whole purpose of the project. Trial and error.
Iris Transition:
With the help of CapCut, I was able to make an iris transition of my friend doing random actions in a movie theater, I used two separate clips of my friend and edited the transition between the clips. I wanted to capture her silly personality and behaviors with an outdated transition that is now deemed as comical.
