Classmate Critique
Hey! Welcome back. Today I am going to critique my fellow peers and their transition videos.
Nicole Gonzales:
Fade- In the video, it shows a subject falling to the ground and reaching towards the sky as it fades to black. The placement of the fade shows conclusion or ending of a scene. It leaves a puzzling tone as the audience, being myself, is skeptical on what may have happened for the subject to fall in agony. The fade contributes to a possible end of this character or her suffering.
Match cut- In contrast of the gloomy yet mysterious tone of the last video, this video is happy and joyful. The subject is breaking the forth wall as it interacts with the audience. While interacting he uses his hand as a transition to get him from one scene, in the house, to another, in the car. This adds to the lighthearted and bubbly subject as it creates a comical transition.
Vivien Tang:
Dissolve transition: At the beginning of the video, it shows the subject having a phone call, then dissolving into the next scene where it shows an argument. It rises intensity on the scene as the dramatic transition causes the audience to feel "on edge" or tense.
Whip pan- The transition has contributed to the video by adding a subtle mood. The subject is only standing so with the transition, it only contributes to the atmosphere of the video.
