Color Use

Welcome back! For this post, I want to talk about the color usage in my team's project. I want to dissect the most important scenes, which includes our vastly different characters. My character: Pink. It is going to be pink to match the character's  femininity. From the posters, to the markers, even in her outfit, pink is included. Along with other pastel colors, it helps conveys  a bright and happy personality. However, when the camera shows her turns in her bed, I want to change the camera filter to a darker, moodier tone that reflects the character's emotions. Tricky, I know and we may not go through with it, but I want to make it work. Anais' character:  The room is going to be dark with dark colors to match her dark and grungy  character. As mentioned before, Anais usually wears a lot of dark colors, so not an issue there, but her room is not far from the grungy aesthetic. Out of all of us, she has the right props, clothes, and aesthetic to portray the cha...

Second Day of Shooting!

Image
Hi everyone! For this post I wanted to talk about our second day of shooting and how it went. It took place a little before Spring Break! We had an early release day, so I had asked Mal, Anais and Nicole if we could shoot after school, since the release gave us more time. And they said yes! So after school we headed to my house where we recorded some shoots in my room. We were not able to shoot in Mal's room, ugh I know, so we decided to shoot her scene in a different angle of my room. After I had asked them to the park near my house. They agreed, so we walked to the park to shoot the remaining scenes. The plan was to shoot Mal and Anais being all sad that my character disappeared. The sun was out so it gave nice lighting.  Here is some pictures:  However... we encountered an issue. We got a second opinion from Nicole saying some ideas did not go together and that our story could not fit within the two minutes. OH MY GOD!! We quickly decided the ending of the project, wh...

Sound Post

Welcome back! Today, I want to describe the addition of sound in our project. There is not many diegetic sounds, where the music explains the story. The subtle noise of paper crumbling, keyboards clicking, bed sheets moving, etc., are going to be made hand made to create an authentic feel to the video. We will record from our phones and send it to my computer in order it to be edited. We will all take turns making the sounds of course, but I will be the one editing majority of the content together as I have some knowledge on editing.  The music is also copyright free, sadly. We had many songs lined up to showcase each character, but remembered that we can't use any of it. My team and another team, being Ashley, Vivian and Nicole, had joked around at the idea of asking famous musicians on giving us the right to use their music. For example, after being told of the wedding scene for the other team's project, I suggested on asking Jason Derulo to give them the right to use "...

Challenges in film

Hey again! So for today's post, I want to discuss some issues and hiccups my team has been experiencing while filming our project.  One of the biggest issue is trying to set days where everyone can be physically present and help record. Although we see each other basically every day, there is never a day where we can properly film. Whether it's busy schedules, no kind of transportation or simply our parents saying no, we are struggling on trying to film. It's also spring time. Spring time equals the worst time to attend school. Our teachers are killing us with home work, testing is just around the corner, and we are trying to figure out what we want to do next year. We are swamped, but we are trying to disregard the obsticles and put our energy into this project! Another issue is our camera. I previously stated that we are able to use a camera from our friend, turns out they also need the camera for their projects. I know can life make it any more difficult. Thankfully we ...

Help film other projects?!

Welcome back everyone! So I had talked to another group in our class, consisting of Nicole, Ashley, and Vivian, and they had asked for my teams help.  On Sunday, February 6th, we had went to 'Tree Tops Park', which was a beautiful park that I had never gone to before. The plan was to shoot a dream sequence, so Nicole had asked me to help her with her makeup. It was super fun as we made jokes the entire time. I had met Nicole's friend Dylan, another classmate that had agreed to help film their trailer. He was super fun to hang out with. After getting ready, we had went to the park and met up with Ashley and Vivian, who brough food for a particular scene. Later Anais arrives with more food for us to enjoy in between breaks. So once we chose a place to film, we had discussed what we wanted to film. At the beginning, Anais, Malavika and I has took photos of the filming process and gave little tips. But as the filming continued, I was asked to give opinions on their original id...

Costuming

Image
Helloooo! So today, we are going to discuss the costuming for our characters. My character: I want to have saturated, and light colors. My character is into fashion and is confident in her style. The character would wear skirts, baby tee's, track suits, and lots of accessories. She is very into her appearance, so we want to put effort into her outfits.  For hairstyles, I wanted to have picked up styles or have accessories in the hair. Here are some examples: Anais: To match the grunge aesthetic, we want to focus on darker color pallets, like blacks and reds. Anais suggested to inspire the character in a Rockstar aesthetic, which I describe it as someone who does not care too much on their appearance. but they look very cool. So messy-ish hair, statement pieces and "slept-in" makeup.  Malavika: Her character is based on the nerd/girl next door. I take a lot of inspiration from Rory Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls (One of my favorites). Rory has an academic feel in h...

Main Character Analysis

Hello! On my last post, I have described the costumes for our characters. However, I wanted to go more in depth of these characters and explain every detail, both on the outside and inside. "Preppy" This is my character!  Describing the physical characteristics: she is tan, however has vitiligo in different parts of her face (I actually have vitiligo and I think it is cool how everyone is cool to have her with this feature). She has straight hair that is often styled in different ways, for example, high ponytails or all down with a simple headband. She, like her friends, are around 5'3.  Costuming: She is inspired from the early 2000's aesthetic and will wear baby tee's and tracksuits. We wanted her to wear more bright colors, primary pink, but had found darker, earthy tones. So she will have a mixture of both color themes.  Props: When creating this character, I had instantly thought of a girl who cares a lot on her image and focuses her attention on "fun...
