Inspiration!
Hey!
Welcome back to me going on and on about inspiration that influenced my idea of our opening scene.
To begin a show that gave me inspiration for it's aesthetic is Gilmore Girls. The show, although older than me, has a warm and comforting feeling which I wanted to put into the film. With it's grainy texture and use of color, I wanted to put that in the first scenes where everything appeared "normal".
The Scream franchise gave me inspiration on how to tell the story. After being told that our original plan might end in failure, my group came up with the now idea. I thought of Scream, where the characters do not have a clear understanding on who it is that is harming everyone, in this case my character, and will go through possible danger in order to find the antagonist. As well as revealing the villain at the end inspired the idea of keeping the "stalker" a secret.
Booksmart is another movie that I got inspiration for the plot. Originally, I wanted the plot to be about this group of friends trying to live their life while struggling with individual problems. Unique I know. But Booksmart followed this template and executed a wonderfully done movie that I watch on repeat. The story of each girl and how their problems intertwine and untwine with one another was the inspiration for the original idea, and if this project was a full movie I would like this idea to be mixed in the plot.
Ingrid Goes West was a big inspiration for the stalker idea. Unlike in the Scream Franchise, specifically the first one, the villain is this psychotic yet sane individual. But in Ingrid Goes West, we see the villain get ugly, mental health diminishing as well as relationships getting separated or crushed. I like the idea where we focus heavily on how the characters internally and mentally react to these unwanted and terrifying events.
That was some of my inspirations that I wanted to share with you all!
