Helloooo! Welcome back. I have been provided with some videos that were done by past AICE Media students so I can be inspired and help me brainstorm new ideas for my own video. Here are my observations of each video. Rise: The video begins with someone leaving their car and collecting their equipment. While this happens, credits appear which leads to the title "RISE". After that it shows the same guy playing soccer but being observed by another individual. It shows a montage of, what seems to be the protagonist, to play soccer by himself/practicing. At the end, the same guy packs up and begins to leave but sees the guy who was observing him. It ends with a close up shot on each guy's face. Dear Lover: The video begins with relaxed music accompanied with a shot of a lake. Similar to "RISE", it displays credits near the bottom of the video.  Hey Hey! After my previous post, my group has been brainstorming many ideas, ranging from funny/entertaining to dark/mysterious.  So far we had been leaning on a coming-of-age theme with dark undertones. We want to focus the story on three friends who are vastly different from each other but are still really good friends, like opposites attract. At the beginning it will start off happy with music to accompany it. There was a point where I did not attend school for one day so my group members discussed on the project further and had created this interesting idea where it shows each friend pick up a pair of headphones/places them down, creating a match cut transition. I think it's an interesting idea as it could showcase a little of each character in a few seconds. They had also came up with an idea that one of the friends ends up leaving the group, whether its moving away or other reasons, leaving the two friends by themselves trying to navigate the world.  At the end, we...

 Welcome back! Recently we had been asked to form groups for our upcoming trailer project! I am very excited especially since I am able to work with my classmates, also known as my friends, Anais Marcos and Malavika Nair. You may have seen them previously on my earlier posts. They share my same passion for film and we have already had a fun time brainstorming ideas. It also makes it easier to work with them as I already know them personally, so there will be no awkward moments. Just wanted to give a quick update on our project. See you next time!

 Hey! Welcome back.  The use of title sequences are nothing new. Having different clips edited together at the beginning of the movie is the best way to subtly introduce the audience to what they are about to experience. To be honest, I personally skip any intro sequences that don't raise my arm hairs, or sends a shiver down my spine. I enjoy title sequences that makes me excited to watch the film/show. Here are my 5 favorite title sequences and how they contribute to the over all show/film. Scott Pilgrim vs The World I could go on and on about how wonderful this movie is and how much detail was put in. At the beginning of the movie we are introduced to Knives Chau, who has just got into a relationship with our protagonist Scott Pilgrim. She comes over to the house to introduce herself to Scott's bandmates. The title sequence begins with her watching the band perform one of their songs. The weird, stretched out living room accompanied with animation that is timed with the beat...

 Hello again! So for this blog I will be discussing the Mise en Scene of the horror classic The Shining. I had recently watched this movie to get into the spooky scary mood for Halloween, and I am pleased to say that this movie is well done and I enjoyed it. I loved taking apart the movie and analyzing every scene, or time. Setting:       The main aspect of the movie is that it takes place at the eerie Overlook Hotel, however at the very beginning of the movie, we see the contrast of the Torrance's house and the hotel, which contributes and foreshadows to the plot. The house is lively, from the use of natural lighting, which we will get more in detail, to the colors of the props around them. The house is alive and can be easily determined that it is perfectly normal. A happy home with a happy family. On the other hand, the hotel is dark, from the walls to the actual lighting.     Hello again! Along with learning different editing techniques done when making films, we are also learning the production process. One part at the beginning of making a film is a mood board. We were asked to make a mood board of the our recent movie critique, mine being the well-known movie The Truman Show.  My mood board!     When making this mood board, I tried to focus on the two vibes or aesthetics the movie contains. On the left there are bright warm colors along with the contrast of blue.  This depicts the false reality and world Truman is living in. The bright colors show how abnormally lively his world is and how it “almost” looks fake. In contrast, the dark, modern aesthetic on the right shows not only the shows the team behind the show but rather the sinister and sinful obsession over Truman and control.      At the beginning, we have been asked to make small, less than one-minute videos with different camera movements, transitions, and angles. As of late however, we were told to make a sound story, only using sounds to help tell a story or scene. This was an exciting, yet difficult project to do. We were put into groups and were asked to only create sounds to tell a story.  Final Project: https://youtu.be/A6OP_jIifM0 My group has decided to create the ending moments of shopping in a mall, which is basically walking out the mall and hearing your surroundings. Most sounds were created within our nearby mall, such as the sound of an escalator and crowds. It was very fun to think of ways to create these different sounds, but as we filmed, we were getting stares so we tried to do it very discrete. I felt as if maybe we could have emphasis more on the subject, which was a person shopping. Otherwise, I felt the my group did a good job establishing the setting and the main ...
